Moseley, located 3 miles south of the city centre, Moseley is a popular and distinctive suburb of Birmingham. Along with Kings Heath, located just to the south, Moseley had a population of 26,669 in the 2011 census. In 2015, the Sunday Times named Moseley as the “best urban place to live” in the country.
The History of Moseley
The first mention of Moseley was in the Doomsday Book of 1086, when the village of Museleie was listed. It was a small hamlet for much of its history until the 1850’s when the new railway line into Birmingham stimulated development. Moseley became a fashionable, cosmopolitan village, characteristics that it retains to this day.
Transport Links
Though there is currently no train station in Moseley, there are plans to have one in the near future which will connect the suburb directly with Birmingham centre. The A435 runs through the area and depending on traffic, it is a little over a 15-minute drive or bus journey into the city centre.
The 1, 1A, 35, 41, 50 and 82 bus routes serve the area.

Moseley has all of the amenities you would expect from a modern, cosmopolitan neighbourhood, including a good variety of eateries, restaurants and pubs. The Moseley Hall Hospital is situated there, as well as several pharmacies, a Sainsburys Local and an award-winning monthly farmers market.
Things to do in and around Moseley
Moseley Park is more than 300 years old and lies at the heart Moseley. The picturesque park and pool is run by a charitable trust and hosts many events throughout the year for the community.
The Moseley Festival takes place every summer and is a celebration of music, art, food, culture and sport, while it also hosts the UK and even world-renowned Moseley Folk Festival, Moseley Jazz, Funk & Soul Festival and the Pow-Wow LitFest.
Moseley is also the home to the ever-popular Moseley Bog and one of the country’s most successful rugby union teams.
